The Modern Farmhouse — My Simply Simple

Hi everyone! Remember that new house we've been working so hard to build? I'm happy to report that construction has come to a close and we have moved in. I sure thought I would be posting these photos around Easter, but I guess a little after Memorial Day was in the plans... Life is full of surprises, isn't it? I will spare you the gory details and just say that it's been quite an interesting (to say the least) two months, but we have moved in and are loving our new home!

I know I've said it before, but building a custom home is not for the faint of heart. I have never experienced so much stress, worry, and excitement - all bottled up together. Between the infinite decisions that must be made, the trust required of complete strangers, and the inevitable issues that arise completely out of your control, it is a roller coaster ride... a ride you cross your fingers in hopes you make to the end in one piece yet arrive at the finish line jaded enough to think it might be fun to do again (ha!).

Looking back on the past nine months, I can honestly say we couldn't have done it without our parents. Storage unit, restaurant, hotel, psychiatrist?, and office all in one. THANK YOU!

The photos above were taken right before we moved in all of our stuff. It look the two of us a whopping one hour to move everything from the garage into the house... yes, one hour. ha! I'm not sure if that's impressive or incredibly sad. Regardless, the house doesn't look a whole lot different with our "stuff" in it than it does in these photos, but we're working on decorating the place slowly but surely. Incredibly picky people with expensive tastes tends to mean that decorating becomes quite the lengthy process... I'll be sure to share our progress in the months to come. Stay tuned!
