Capsule Wardrobe // September Summary
Happy October! I can hardly believe we're already into the last quarter of 2014, but I'm so excited to jump into my very favorite month of the year. Between the beautiful fall foliage, warm days/cool nights, and the celebration of our one year wedding anniversary, it's sure to be a month to remember. Not to mention, we're officially into month #2 of my capsule wardrobe!
I want to start off by saying THANK YOU for all of the encouragement regarding my capsule over the past month! I have been blown away by the positive feedback. A number of emails and messages have come through asking about my progress through-out the first month, so I thought it would be a great time to share a few of my favorite outfits from September!
As a quick reminder, my capsule wardrobe contains 37 pieces that are to last me through September, October and November. Since this is my first time picking pieces for a capsule, I was a bit hesitant when it came to shorts vs. pants, tanks vs. sweaters, and so on. The weather in Indiana can be quite fickle this time of year! I went out on a limb and decided to incorporate two pairs of shorts. Lucky for me, the high 70s and low 80s the past few weeks have proved I made the perfect choice.
"Casual Sunday" - The Nike sneakers make multiple trips to the hardware store a breeze, and the chambray shirt is perfect to throw on in chilly, air-conditioned stores.
"Out and About" - If you see me running around on a Saturday afternoon, this is likely what I have on. It's a simple shorts and t-shirt look, but the heels and necklace take it up just a notch to look a bit more put together.
"Weekend Social" - My Everlane tee and Madewell heels have turned out to be a favorite this month. I love taking simple pieces and punching them up just a bit. This outfit is perfect for a casual weekend dinner with friends.
"Work Neutrals" - Considering my favorite colors are gray, white, and beige, this outfit is a staple at the office. The light cotton sweater keeps me warm without being too stuffy, and it pairs really nicely with my gray blazer when I need to be business professional.
"Feeling Studious" - The chambray shirt may be a great cover-up on the weekends, but it's proved to be a staple at the office, too. Paired with a pencil skirt, heels, and my Chamberlain glasses, a simple shirt goes from casual to professional in an instant.
"Leopard Love" - My love for the Madewell Silk Playa dress is undeniable. It is extremely versatile and comfortable! It pairs nicely with my gray blazer in the office, but I definitely plan to wear it with some booties and a jean jacket for a casual weekend look this October.
I have truly enjoyed my capsule so far and am excited to try some new looks in October and November. As the temperatures drop, I'm looking forward to incorporating some additional layers through tights and scarfs. It's amazing how much more creative I feel as I look inside my closet each day. I'm not tired of my picks at all after the first month, but it will be interesting to see how I feel after October. Stay posted!
