Capsule Wardrobe // January Summary

JanuarySummary

Hi Everyone! Happy Monday. :) Can you believe it's FEBRUARY?! Yowzaa. I feel like it was just yesterday that I started my winter capsule, but sure enough, we're already into the final stretch and planning for spring! My January wardrobe pretty much went off without a hitch. Believe it or not, there are STILL some pieces I haven't worn or at least have only worn once or twice. Apparently I only like one or two outfits when the temperature drops... who knew.  Anyway, let's take a look at a few of my favorites!

PocketDress  GrayCardigan  SammieBootie

Leather Pocket Dress ; Madewell  //  Gray Cardigan (similar) ; Forever 21  //  Sammie Boots ; Madewell

You may recognize this dress from my fall capsule. It has quickly become a favorite piece in my wardrobe. Strangely enough, I included it in my "10 least favorite" pieces from fall. Since that time, my amazing Mom/personal seamstress worked her magic and shortened this dress a hem length. It suddenly has a whole different feel to it and is extremely versatile. Paired with some tights, boots, and a sweater (oh, and of course a coat), this dress is winter-ready in no time.

BlackTee  OatmealCardigan  BlackDrappyPants  LeopardHeels

Black Ryan Tee ; Everlane  //  Oatmeal Cardigan ; Forever 21  //  Black Drapey Pants ; Banana Republic  //  Leopard Heels (similar) ; Nine West

I don't know about you, but the only thing I want to wear in the winter months is something warm and comfy. These pants, while not my normal style, are oh so comfortable. It's kind of hard to see in these photos, but the pants are a silky sort of material and have - wait for it - an elastic waist. haha Yep. If you're planning to eat a whole bunch of pizza or something, these are the pants for you. Well, that and they are actually quite flattering! I'm loving the elastic band at the ankle and the pockets. The fit is quite slim and the overall look is a little edgy - I'm all about it. It's like fancy sweatpants!

BuffaloCheck  DarkSkinnyJeans  JCrewBooties

Buffalo Check Shirt (similar) ; J.Crew  //  Dark Wash Denim ; Madewell  //  Laine Boots ; J.Crew

If all else fails, I throw on my buffalo check shirt. This thing is extremely versatile. Oh, and warm. Tucked into some skinny dark denim and a leopard belt makes this office appropriate on a Friday.

CableKnit  TuxedoLeggingsFurParka  MadewellBooties

Cable Knit Sweater ; Banana Republic  //  Tuxedo Stripe Leggings (similar) ; J.Crew  //  Fur Parka (similar) ; Banana Republic  //  Charlie Booties ; Madewell

This is a pretty standard weekend outfit. I found these tuxedo stripe leggings on the clearance rack at J.Crew about a year ago. The material is quite thick, so these have come in handy on chilly days. Throwing on my fur parka means I'm guaranteed to be toasty all day.

WhiteSilk  GrayCrop  BlackSkinnyPants  SammieBootie

White Silk Blouse ; Everlane  //  Gray Crop Sweater ; Banana Republic  //  Black Sloan Pants ; Banana Republic  //  Sammie Booties ; Madewell

My love for this crop sweater is undeniable. Paired over a silk blouse means the wool doesn't make me itchy and the silk can effortlessly hang out without looking messy. If I had to pick one outfit to wear the rest of winter, this would be it.

As I mentioned last week, Tyler and I are really loving our winter capsules, but we have some changes coming up. I, once again, plan to share our top 10 favorite and least favorite pieces for this capsule as well as outfit summaries for February, but we'll also start talking about modifying our wardrobes for the long-term. Stay tuned for more to come!
