White Paint Mania

Have you ever done a search for "best white paint"? Wow. Who knew that picking out some paint for your walls could be so tricky! I'm planning to repaint our bedroom, and I have my heart set on white. (You can check out my plans in this post.) White is white, right? Apparently not. Do you want it to have pink, yellow, or blue undertones? How much natural light do you get? What accent colors will you be using? Um..... I just want white paint??

My search for white paint recommendations lead me all over creation, but I think I've narrowed it down to a select few. The goal? I want it to be light, bright, clean, and modern. I don't really want to notice any undertones - definitely not blue. I would prefer to err on the side of taupe, but definitely not dirty looking. Oh, and not too yellow either. Hmmmm...... this could be interesting!  I think I have it narrowed down to these two options:

BM White Dove

We actually painted our mudroom/back entryway and our upper kitchen cabinets BM White Dove, so I'm pretty familiar with this color. Through all of my searches, this paint continues to pop-up as a "best white". Surely that means something, right? I like that it doesn't appear as WHITE as others. My only hesitations? Benjamin Moore paint is expensive, and I don't want it to be too taup-y. (Is that a word?)

Behr Snowfall

I love how crisp and clean Behr Snowfall appears in photos, but would it be TOO white for our room? The hardwood floors in both pictures above are darker than ours, so I'm worried it may not look as great in our space.  The good thing about Behr is that it's not as expensive as some, and I've heard the paint and primer in one is fantastic. If I don't have to paint multiple coats, I'm all about that! Doesn't that oriental rug just pop off of those white walls? I'm such a sucker for a good white wall and a beautiful rug. (Sighhhhhh......)

Which would you choose?
