Joshua Tree Inspired Bathroom Update

My Simply Simple | Joshua Tree

After visiting southern California, I'm amazed more people don't live in the southwest. I've never seen a sky so blue or felt sun so warm in the month of January. As if that isn't enough, the landscape looks like a painting in every single direction. It's no wonder so many flock to the area for inspiration.

After just a few days, I, too, was inspired by the landscape. Tyler and I have been discussing a bathroom makeover for quite some time, and I think our time in the desert was just the inspiration I needed to pull my vision together. If you can't be in the desert, bring the desert to you, right?

Other than hang a shower curtain and some blinds, we haven't done a thing to our bathroom since moving in three years ago. Although not entirely my style, the updated space was more than adequate for our needs. As time has gone on, however, there are a few tweaks that I believe could have a big impact on the space. Bathroom Before

We are not interested in spending a bunch of money, so the updates will be purely cosmetic. The tub, toilet, sink, cabinet and tile will all stay. Would blue/green subway tile have been my first choice? Of course not. But I really think we can make it work - especially with some natural wood tones and (of course) more white.
