Capsule Wardrobe for Littles: S|S 2023

Spring is officially here and with it comes an updated wardrobe in our household. I’ve shared many Capsule Wardrobes, both for myself and the girls, in years past. I’ve always enjoyed curating a small selection of items to be mixed and matched, and I’m hopeful it’s helpful to some of you as well. The clothing options for little ones are endless - and so dang cute! I’m inundated with targeted ads and new collections from my favorite brands on the daily. I’m sure you are, too. A capsule wardrobe is my attempt at curbing consumption and honing in on what actually works for our family.

I’ve been creating a Capsule Wardrobe for Marin since the fall/winter after she turned one (F|W 2020). I group spring + summer and fall + winter wardrobes together primarily because the clothes tend to be consistent for us during those periods of time. Feel free to do what works best for you in your geographic location. And, of course, be fully prepared that kids can outgrow things overnight and you may need to adjust again as needed. This isn’t a strict formula or rule. It’s just an attempt to keep life a little more simple on the daily.

In case it’s helpful, here are links to previous capsules I’ve shared:

I’ve always shared just Marin’s wardrobe in years past, but I attempted to show both Marin and Zoe this time around. Many of Zoe’s items are hand-me-downs, so I tried linking similar items where possible.

For size reference:

Marin is 3.5 years old (4 in July) and Zoe is just shy of 17 months (2 in October). both girls are quite petite for their age.

marin

  • Floral Tee - Super affordable and looks great.

  • Polka Dot Tee - Simple, cute, great price.

  • Ruffle Tee - We’ve had this same tee for a few years and always really like it. I sized up when it was on sale last fall. Linking what appears to be the new version.

zoe

  • Ruffle Woven Top - This was Marin’s and is one of my absolute favorites. It looks SO dang cute with the navy gingham bloomers for summer.

  • Anne Blouse - Beautiful color and fabric. Easily transitions through the seasons.

  • Gauze Flutter Blouse - Old color but linked the same style. Super cute and versatile.

  • Polka Dot Tee - Marin’s old tee but still in great shape and super cute. Linked something similar.

  • Shorts - Bought these last year and loved them, so I sized up in the same set this year. They are an easy grab and go option. Comfy, wash great, look nice, and hold up to lots of wear and tear.

  • Bike Shorts - Marin picked these out on a trip to Target, and we now own three pair. They’re super cute and very versatile. She loves them under dresses.

  • Bloomers - Second year in a row buying this pack of bloomers, too. They run really big, so be sure to size down, but they’re affordable and hold up great. Marin wears them under dresses.

zoe

  • Ruffle Bloomer - I much prefer bloomers to shorts at this age, so we’re reusing all of Marin’s old stuff. Linking something similar.

  • Gingham Bloomer - Old print that doesn’t appear to be available anymore, but linking something similar. Also similar

  • Woven Bloomer - Cute and versatile bloomer. Looks great with anything.

  • Spring Flowers - Tank ballet dress perfect for those hot summer days.

  • Jersey Dress - Affordable and super cute.

  • Poppy Floral - Alice + Ames dresses are our absolute favorite, hands down. We have several and they all see endless wear.

  • Blush Dot - Possibly Marin’s favorite print right now. Super cute! These dresses wash and wear so well. Can’t recommend enough if you have a dress lover.

  • Overalls - I love a great pair of overalls, and I’m hoping I can convince Marin to wear something other than dresses every single day. :)

  • Prim Floral - My personal favorite print. It hides everything and looks so nice.

  • Miss Berry - These are the best dresses. They hold up forever and look great.

zoe

  • Stripe Dress - This is an old Target find from when Marin was a baby. Super cute!

  • Smocked Romper - Cute, cotton, and easy to throw on and go. I love pieces like this when the girls are little.

  • Miss Berry - The girls are very into matching outfits right now, so lots of dresses it is.

  • Gauze Romper - Marin wore this a ton when she was a baby. It’s such a simple piece but is incredibly cute. Looks great alone or with bloomers/pants.

  • Oona Romper - I’ve swooned over Soor Ploom clothing ever since Marin was born. I found this Oona Romper on major sale and jumped!

  • Spring Flowers - Tank ballet dress perfect to throw on and go.

  • Bodysuit - I love a good throw on and go outfit. Especially if it’s super cute and easy to wash.

  • Torrentshell Jacket - Last years color but a great spring jacket nonetheless. Great at repelling water and the hood stays up.

  • Sweatshirt - My sisters bought each of the girls one of these sweatshirts for their most recent birthday and had them embroidered with their name and a symbol. They’re incredibly soft and SO cute. We love them! I want one. Ha!

zoe

  • Baggies Jacket - Same jacket Zoe wore last spring. It’s super cute and a great weight, although it’s not nearly as rain repellant as Marin’s Torrentshell Jacket. I’d call it more of a windbreaker. The hood snaps off which is kind of handy.

  • Sweatshirt - My sisters bought each of the girls one of these sweatshirts for their most recent birthday and had them embroidered with their name and a symbol. They’re incredibly soft and SO cute. We love them! I want one. Ha!

marin

  • Ditsy Daisy - Marin’s favorite pajamas. Bought in the next size up for spring/summer.

  • Secret Garden - Cutest prints and super soft.

  • Carrot PJs - Marin loves these l/s pajamas. The print is super cute and perfect for spring!

zoe

  • Clare Floral - Marin’s hand-me-down’s but this print is still sold.

  • Gingham - This print is old and no longer available, but I linked the new gingham option.

  • Carrot Footies - Super cute print (hand drawn!) and brand. These are perfect for cool spring days.

marin

  • High Tops - Marin spotted these in California and hasn’t taken them off since. Ha! I linked the purple canvas although Marin’s are glitter/sparkle and the “easy on” style. I don’t see them available online.

  • Sneakers - Inexpensive play shoes that clean up surprisingly well. They’re also easy for the girls to get on/off by themselves.

  • Water Shoes - Native water shoes are the best. We tried the cheap knock offs from Target, but they aren’t nearly as nice or as durable as these. Worth the extra money.

zoe

  • High Tops - I’m convinced it doesn’t get cuter than babies in high tops. They’re not the quickest or easiest shoe to put on, but I don’t even care. Ha!

  • Sneakers - Zoe has the same shoes as Marin, per Marin’s request. They’re perfect play shoes and come in a wide variety of prints/colors.

  • Water Shoes - These are Marin’s old ones, but they’re perfect for outdoor play in the summer - especially splash pads!

marin

  • Bikini - Super cute and great texture. The bottoms definitely run big, though.

  • Sunglasses - Marin is a sunglasses fanatic. If the sun is out, she will NOT go outside without them. These are her favorite (and most sturdy), but she has several pairs.

  • Flounce Swimsuit - Cute, affordable, and great for running around a splash pad in the summer.

  • Underwear - These are Marin’s favorite underwear - no wedgies! They wash and wear well, although run a little small. Size up if in question.

zoe

  • Sunglasses - Super cute and affordable. The girls both love sunglasses.

  • Flounce Swimsuit - Cute suit!

  • Gingham Swimsuit - Marin’s old suit but runs small and still in great condition because she hardly wore it. Linked similar.

  • Bonnet - Perfect for keeping sun off the face.
