Capsule Wardrobe for Littles: F|W 2022

Believe it or not, another F|W season is upon us. Temperatures have been quite chilly around here for the last week, so we’ve had to bust out our warm clothes sooner than expected. I’m still in the midst of finalizing wardrobes for both girls, but I figured I would go ahead and share what I know so far.

As a side note, I decided to only share Marin’s wardrobe since Zoe is pretty much getting all hand-me-down’s from Marin’s F|W 2020 wardrobe. You can see all of that info at this link. Some of it is still pretty big so I’ve had to fill-in gaps as needed, but you get the gist.

Here’s a breakdown of the quantities per category I loosely followed this F|W season for Marin:

4 - 6 TOPS | 4 - 6 BOTTOMS | 5 - 7 DRESSES | 4 - 5 OUTERWEAR / SWEATERS | 2 SLEEPWEAR | 2 - 3 SHOES | ACCESSORIES

T O P S

  • Eyelet Tee - We bought this last year and loved it! It layers nicely and looks great under dresses or by itself. I’ve linked this years style which is slightly different but still very cute.

  • Stripe Tee - Great basic that goes with anything and is super affordable.

  • Eleanor Blouse - I love the Little Cotton Clothes brand. The quality is fantastic and the clothes are super cute. We had this same blouse in a different print last year and wore it a ton.

  • Pointelle Tee - Old but great basic tee. Looks like they still sell this style and color.

  • HOLD - Basic Tee?

  • HOLD - Blouse?

  • Leggings - These are from last year, but they’re always coming out with new color ways. We love these because they’re slightly thicker than the average leggings, making them perfect for cold days. The adjustable waist has been key for us since both girls are so petite.

  • Jersey Leggings - These aren’t as warm as the ones above, but they’re perfect under dresses when we need something more sturdy than tights.

  • Mauve Ballet Dress - I often wonder why I buy any other dresses. These A+A dresses are, without a doubt, Marin’s favorite. She would wear one every single day if I let her.

  • Gretta Dress - Saw this dress and bought it immediately. I love the patchwork design and this fit is super cute. Marin had a dress just like this a year or so ago and it got tons of wear.

  • Velvet Pinafore - Another beautiful design by Little Cotton Clothes. Looking forward to dressing this up and down. Perfect for the holidays!

  • Botanical Ballet Dress - Hands down, these are our favorite dresses. They wash and wear incredibly well, and Marin loves them. They can be easily dressed up or down. Worth every penny.

  • French Terry Dress - Cute, comfy, a wonderful brand, and very versatile. This is from last season but looks to still be available.

  • Ivy Dress - Lali Kids clothes are fantastic. The quality is top notch, the prints are beautiful, and the girls love to wear them.

  • Agatha Floral Dress - This is from last season, but they come out with they usually come out with the same style in new prints each year. This one is called mallow floral, and it so beautiful.

  • Burnt Sienna Ballet Dress - I picked up this color at the last minute because I knew it would be something super easy to pick-up and throw on come the holidays. It’s a great color for Christmas and can easily be dressed up or down.

  • Nano Puff Jacket - We sized Marin up in this jacket so Zoe could have her old one. These are the BEST. They wash so nicely, and warm but not bulky, and the girls love wearing them. We wear these year round but typically bust out our “winter” coats when we hit below freezing.

  • Popcorn Sweater - Misha & Puff sweaters are pricey but incredibly well made and WARM. We got this for Marin last year for Christmas.

  • Sweatshirt - My sisters bought this for Marin for her third birthday, and it is SO DANG CUTE. They got it embroidered with her name and we sized up quite a bit so she could wear it for a long time. It is seriously the softest sweatshirt I’ve ever felt. I want one. Ha!

  • Hi-Loft Down Coat - This is a past season color, but the coat is great. We sized Marin up so Zoe could have her old one. It is SO WARM and the hood is great. This is what the girls wear when it’s below freezing.

  • Floret PJs - We love Plain Janes! We always have two on rotation for any given season. Short sets in the spring/summer, and long sleeve sets in the fall/winter. They’re the best.

  • Dusty Rose PJs - Same pjs but in a beautiful dusty rose.

  • Warm High Tops - I hunted for a pair of shoes that were in between a sneaker and a snow boot, and these fit the bill. They have a warm lining and are nice and tall without being heavy or bulky. They’re also easy for Marin to get on and off herself, so chalk it up to a win in my book. We bought the smallest size they sell which is pretty big for Marin’s tiny feet, but thick socks help (and keep her even warmer).

  • Sneakers - I held out as long as I could waiting for Marin’s old sneakers to come back in stock from Zara, but we finally had to give in and purchase a different (bigger) pair. We found these on a recent trip to Target, and they’re actually really nice so far. They go with anything, Marin says they’re really comfortable, and I like that I can still wash them like I could her old ones. Time will tell if they hold up.

  • T-Bar Scallop Boots - I bought these for Marin last fall, and they are still her favorite. They go with anything, hold up well, and look great. Pricey, but they’ve been a great investment for us. I think they should hold up well enough for Zoe to use one day, too.

  • HOLD - Snow Boots?

  • Underwear - These are Marin’s favorite. They fit and wash well - no wedgies!

  • Tights - These tights are great. Thick but soft and wash well.

  • Winter Hat - Marin has had this for at least a year or two now, but I’ve linked a very similar one. I like this style with the ties because I think they stay on and cover ears better. We’ve never actually tied it under the chin.

  • Mittens - Marin is very passionate about staying warm all of the sudden, so mittens are her BFF. Ha! I tried to buy some gloves, but everything was way too big and they were much more difficult for her to manage on her own. Mittens have been perfect.
