Capsule Wardrobe for Littles: S|S 2022
As the weather begins to warm and layers are shed, I always know it’s time to introduce an updated capsule wardrobe. I’ve been doing so with Marin for nearly two years now. You can check out our previous capsules here: F|W 2021, S|S 2021, F|W 2020. I’m hopeful it’s helpful for some of you, but more than anything, it’s helpful for me. It makes me more conscious of our purchases - quality, longevity, cost, versatility. All of it. I’m looking forward to doing the same with Zoe in the years to come. I don’t create seasonal capsules for her just yet as we still work on the 0-3 month, 3-6 month, etc. sizing. Once she hits a year old (and is a little more predictable size-wise), I’ll transition her to a seasonal wardrobe as well.
Here’s a breakdown of the quantities per category I loosely followed this S|S season for Marin:
5 - 7 TOPS | 4 - 6 BOTTOMS | 5 - 7 DRESSES / ROMPERS | 1 - 2 OUTERWEAR / SWEATERS | 2 - 3 SLEEPWEAR | 2 - 3 SHOES | ACCESSORIES

Swing Top - This was an end of season clearance purchase, and I absolutely love it. Lali Kids is one of our very favorite brands. The quality is fantastic, the designs are so unique, and they hold up to lots of wear and tear.
Cotton Tees - Cute and great for hot days.
Muslin Top - My Mom made this sweet top for Marin. It’s perfect for warm weather and will see so much wear.
Eyelet Tee - We had this exact same tee in long sleeve for fall/winter and loved it. I bought the next size up in this short sleeve version for spring/summer.

Pencil Pant - Marin loves these pants. They’re super soft and versatile. They run pretty true to size for us, but if in doubt, I’d size up.
Cotton Shorts - These shorts are inexpensive, 100% cotton, look great, and wash so well. We love them! I’ll continue buying in bigger sizes until they no longer fit.
Pointelle Legging - We’ve had these same pants in a few colors/sizes over the last few years, and they are always a favorite. They have a snug fit which makes them great for wearing under dresses.
Paperbag Shorts - Cute shorts that go with anything. Be sure to size down!

Floral Dress - We love these little dresses. They wash so well and are really comfortable. Worth every penny!
Gingham Dress - Saw this and purchased immediately. Cute, versatile, inexpensive, and the perfect dress for transitioning through the seasons.
L /S Ballet Dress - Alice + Ames dresses are beautiful, well made, and hold up to lots of wear and tear. We bought our first one (Juliet dress in Meta Plaid) last year, and I have no doubt this Ballet style will see a ton of wear this year.
Tulip Dress - Another beautiful design from Lali Kids. White may seem impractical for little one’s, but I’ve actually found it to be an easy color to maintain - especially in the summer! We hang all of our laundry on the clothesline to dry, and the sun removes stains with ease
Tank Dresses - Inexpensive but possibly our most worn items of the entire season. Marin loved these dresses. Nice and cool on a hot summer day, easy to put on/off herself, and pink, of course.
Pinafore Dress - Bought this on an end of season clearance sale, and it is adorable. We absolutely LOVE Lali Kids clothes. Highly recommend! This print is old but they still sell this style each season in their newest collection of beautiful fabrics. I bought this one big so we may have to wait to wear it for a few months, but it will undoubtedly get lots of love.
Cotton Dress - This dress looks and feels way nicer than the $10 price tag. It’s even lined! Love it.

Nano Puff Jacket - This jacket has been the absolute best purchase. Marin’s been wearing it for several seasons, and it’s still in fantastic shape. I plan to buy another in a bigger size for fall. Zoe will inherit this one.
Cardigan - Marin loves this cardigan - it’s pink, of course. We’ve had it for several months, and it’s still in great shape.

Floral PJs - We bought these last year and absolutely loved them. They still fit, so we’re going to get some more use out of them in the warmer months.
Gingham PJs - Same style, just a different print. I’ll definitely purchase the same set again when we need to size up. Plain Jane pajamas are our favorite!

Sneakers - These are Marin’s absolute favorite shoes. She was worn them to death. I wash them and dry outside in the sun weekly, and they’re still holding up wonderfully. I will continue buying these for as long as they make them and they fit!
High Tops - Saw these online and purchased immediately. LOVE THEM! Little kids in high tops is just the cutest thing ever. These “easy on” shoes are great with little ones.
Water Shoes - I bought these for the first time last year, and Marin wore them almost every single day. They hold up to lots of wear and tear, double as awesome water shoes, and are so easy to clean - I’ve even just thrown them in the dishwasher. Ha! Bought a new pair in a bigger size this year.
T-Bar Scallop Old Rose - Marin’s been wearing these for months and loves them. We’ll continue to wear until she outgrows. They’re expensive, but I can attest to the high quality. Zoe will definitely be able to wear these when she’s older. They still look brand new!

Sunglasses - We got these for Marin last summer, and they’re still a favorite. She loves to put them on, just like Mom and Dad.
Fleur Bow - A gingham bow perfect for spring and summer.
Brimmed Bonnet - Briar Baby bonnets are a staple in our household. Marin has been wearing their brimmed bonnet since she was a baby. They are perfect for keeping sun out of eyes and off the face but not too hot.
Underwear - I had previously purchased all of Marin’s underwear from Zara because it was small enough for her petite frame, but she was finally needing a bigger size and nothing was in stock. We went with this pack from H&M, and they’ve been great! They run small, so if in doubt, size up.
Socks - We love these socks from H&M. They hold up really well and are a nice length.
Bugs Tutu - I bought this for Valentine’s day and am obsessed with this sweet wardrobe addition. It’s a one size and intended to fit up to six years of age, so I’m hoping both girls can get lots of use out of this fun accessory.
Swimsuit - I bought this cute suit for Marin last summer, but it was enormous. Hoping we can get some good wear out of it this year!
Knit Tights - We’ve had these tights for quite some time, and they’ve held up extremely well. With that said, they run REALLY big, so definitely size down.
